Quarry House

`Quarry House’ is a large villa located in Kuwait. Its design arranges the different private spaces inside a prismatic block built in light-coloured natural stone with a bored finish. Cut from quarry, without further transformation, the façade material conveys a sense of formal power and quality in its finishes.

The façade openings and different courtyards are cut into the stone cube. The geometric design of these cuts is emphasised by the treatment of the brise soleils, vertical bronze-coloured metal louvres integrated into the joinery. The courts are finished in soft light-coloured ceramic tiles that bring light and warmth to the interior. Both solutions add elegance and sophistication to the exterior image of the house.

The ground floor rises from the edge of the plot, with a blind façade that guarantees the intimacy of the living spaces at this level. A large entrance leads to the interior of the house. This opening is sumptuously screened from view from the public space by greenery and a metal lattice.

Courts, gardens and terraces serve to organise the whole house around the sensation of living surrounded by greenery. The interior is free of structure and the visual connections create spaciousness. The living room, kitchen and dining room open onto a large courtyard with a swimming pool, and are linked through the view to the garden. A luxurious main staircase is naturally lit through a glazed inner courtyard. All this creates a splendid lifestyle where one can enjoy ample space, greenery, privacy and luxury finishes.
