We have always had a vocation for design, and on this occasion we have developed furniture pieces inspired by nature. Throughout history there have been many professionals (Mies van der Rohe, Alvar Aalto, Marcel Breuer or Jean Prouvé) that have been thrown to experiment in this field, some of them with great success, have influenced our style life and architecture of today.
The case of the chairs is paradigmatic. They have always attracted the most outstanding architects of modernity, perhaps because of its ability to condense the characteristics of the contemporary moment, to anticipate architectural trends, or perhaps because of its peculiarities as an object of design, which can be both useful and semantic.
Looking for inspiration in nature
From our perspective of humility we have approached the world of furniture through the Springbok lounge chair, the Horn chair and Röt table. We have built the prototypes design thanks to 3D printing. To project these three pieces, we have set our sights in nature to extract some principles that we consider basic to create a design of these characteristics.
In the case of the Springbok lounge chair, we have found inspiring the nature, dynamics and aesthetics of the Springboks and we have captured through the arches of wood, leather and simplicity of the lines. Both the seat and mounting elements provide a support system flexible enough to be a perfect resting place, and strong enough to become a perfect hammock for everyday use. In addition, manufacture, transport and assembly have reasonable cost implications.
Horn chair curves and delicate lines are inspired by the horns of the bulls, with tonality changes at their ends. Built by a pair of wooden arches and woven wicker seat, achieves a balance among the simple, solid, primitive elegance, and delicate, classic but bold design. The contrast continues on the aesthetic natures of the two types of wood and the use of wicker material that combines lightness and strength. Two wooden elements that arch and overlap at a particular crossing point who seek to follow the flow of curvilinear shape and to provide rigidity, and ease of transport and assembly as Michael Thonet already showed us with their designs.
The flora has been the element from which has emerged the concept of Röt Table; in fact, as a living organism, it draws energy and stability from earth. Its two-piece design, part of a circular organic base and an element opens its vertical growth becoming a piece of great stability. Manufacturers and users have in the Röt table, a piece of furniture that meets their needs, as it is easy to assemble, to condition, as well as to produce. In addition, its flexibility enables compact packaging reduces environmental impact making transport more efficient.
