Biren + AGi architects, winners of the latest eCitySevilla challenge

The proposal submitted by Biren + AGi architects has been awarded in the latest eCitySevilla challenge, which seeks innovative solutions for the installation of photovoltaic energy on the facades of PCT Cartuja buildings.

Our ‘Photovoltaic green façade’ has been designed to optimize energy production, through an innovative design for a ventilated façade and/or curtain wall fully integrated into the building skin. The proposed Building Integrated Photovoltaics modules (BIPV) are anchored on a self-supporting wooden structure, and the design is completed with the installation of a green façade on the curtain wall.

Discover the book “The Multiplex Typology”

Joaquín Pérez-Goicoechea, Principal and Founding Partner of our design firm, co-authored the book “The Multiplex Typology. Living in Kuwait’s Hybrid Houses” with Sharifa Alshalfan and Sarah Alfraih, recently published by DOM publishers.

The multiplex, specific to Kuwait and yet not officially recognised by the state, has become the informal expression of specific living needs that is now ubiquitous across Kuwait. The authors explore everyday life in these hybrid homes, arguing that the one-size-fits-all housing model of the past is both outdated and unsustainable.

The book is also an urgent and timely call for alternative approaches to housing that are sustainably driven, culturally rooted and responsive to future change.
