Competition’s winners for the renovation of the River Fish Market in Limpias, Spain
AGi architects and CSD3 arquitectos are the winners of the public tender for the restoration and rehabilitation of the old River Fish Market of the Limpias Port, in Cantabria, Spain, to house the Center for Environmental and Social Education.
Our proposal is based on four principles:
1. Enhancement of the River Fish Market, by conserving and restoring the building to return it to its original state, restoring the existing stone and wood structures.
2. Increase the closed spaces by incorporating the restored patio -with a light roof and overhead lighting- which allows a larger surface area for the development of the new activity.
3. Promote the relationship between Market-Estuary and Market-Plaza.
4. Creation of a flexible distribution through mobile vertical walls and modular furniture adaptable to various uses.
In addition, this intervention will be an example of a public building rehabilitated under passive standards in Cantabria, which includes high energy efficiency and thermal comfort.
