Jury at Solar Decathlon Middle East

Solar Decathlon Middle East is an international competition for university students to design, build and operate highly efficient and innovative buildings powered by renewable energy in the Middle East.

Nasser Abulhasan, Founding Partner of our design firm, is part of the jury at the “Architecture” section. He, together with other renowned architects, will evaluate the coherence of the design, the flexibility of the space, the innovation, the seamless integration of technologies in the house’s architecture and how the house’s design responds to the conditioning factors of the Middle East.

This second edition of SDME will take place in Dubai, as part of the Expo 2020 activities. The unique houses designed and constructed by the participating teams will be exhibited in a period when sustainability, innovation, and green energy will be in the minds of all the people living in or visiting Dubai.

Opportunity Pavilion for Expo 2020 Dubai

Mission Possible – The Opportunity Pavilion was designed by AGi architects for Expo 2020 Dubai. It encapsulates the concept of ‘Opportunity’: the idea that any action we take can create an impact; that anything is possible with a small step.

The pavilion was conceived as a large plaza, providing continuity to the Opportunity District in which it is situated. The design builds on the rich urban history of the plaza throughout millennia. This universal urban language is important, because the pavilion aims to be a platform for social and cross-cultural engagement.

Mission Possible – The Opportunity Pavilion is where Expo 2020 brings to life the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and it also host the UN hub.

If you plan to visit the first World Expo in the Arab world, you are welcome at this thematic pavilion that revolves around people and the impact of their actions to generate positive change.

Competition’s winners for the renovation of the River Fish Market in Limpias, Spain

AGi architects and CSD3 arquitectos are the winners of the public tender for the restoration and rehabilitation of the old River Fish Market of the Limpias Port, in Cantabria, Spain, to house the Center for Environmental and Social Education.

Our proposal is based on four principles:

1. Enhancement of the River Fish Market, by conserving and restoring the building to return it to its original state, restoring the existing stone and wood structures.

2. Increase the closed spaces by incorporating the restored patio -with a light roof and overhead lighting- which allows a larger surface area for the development of the new activity.

3. Promote the relationship between Market-Estuary and Market-Plaza.

4. Creation of a flexible distribution through mobile vertical walls and modular furniture adaptable to various uses.

In addition, this intervention will be an example of a public building rehabilitated under passive standards in Cantabria, which includes high energy efficiency and thermal comfort.
