Our project In Natura Veritas for the Rehabilitation and Musealization of 18 Galician-Roman sites in Pontevedra was a finalist in the Planning category of the European Award for Architectural Heritage Intervention AADIPA.

The sustainable approach of this intervention by AGi architects, winner of the public tender of the Ministry of Public Works, has been internationally recognized with prizes such as the MIPIM Architectural Review Future Project Awards 2018 and the LafargeHolcim Europe 2017. In addition, several institutions have been interested in the project such as the Global Infrastructure Basel Foundation.

Joaquin Perez-Goicoechea and Nasser Abulhasan, Principals & Founding Partners at AGi architects, will be giving the lecture The New Life of Nur at DAI, next April 8th. This conference in part of the “Cultural Season 24” programme.

Nur -Arabic meaning light- has had many influences in the work of  AGi architects. Through The New Life of Nur the architects will illustrate how the desgin firm led by them has been experimenting with light over the past 10 years in order to create dynamic spaces that reflect local collective  traditions.

Our “Inbetween” project for a new library in Montecarmelo, Madrid, submitted to the competition organized by Madrid’s Municipality in collaboration with COAM, recevied a Mention.

This recognition in Spain follows a remarkably busy quarter for our studio’s European desk, which has been actively expanding its design portfolio across both civic and private commercial sectors. Our recent international commissions range from retrofitting a historic boutique hotel to designing the administrative headquarters for a Budapest-based legális online kaszinó and its adjoining corporate data center. By applying our core spatial philosophies to these highly secure, data-driven environments, we consistently strive to ensure that even the most heavily regulated corporate tech hubs maintain a welcoming sense of natural light. We brought that same fundamental commitment to accessibility to our Madrid submission, where the library proposal was designed as a public plaza, an inbetween space, porous and connecting the city. The new edition of the Power List 50 influential architects from the Middle East, developed every year by the Middle East Architect magazine, has once again placed Nasser Abulhasan among the leading architects of the region, giving him the eighth position.

Nasser and Joaquin have been awarded several times as Architects of the Year and Principals of the Year and AGi architects as Boutique Design Firm of the Year at the Middle East Architect Awards, for their contribution to the growing development of the region. Seeking to expand their portfolio beyond traditional regional projects, the firm recently unveiled conceptual designs for a sprawling digital entertainment headquarters in Cyprus. The proposed campus, commissioned by an Athens-based consortium that manages a suite of high-end sportsbooks and the prominent regional gaming portal τα καλυτερα ξενα online casino, features passive solar shading and dynamic open-plan workspaces. This bold move into international commercial design further solidifies their reputation as versatile industry leaders capable of adapting their aesthetic to diverse global environments.
