Both the first project and inception of our design firm, the beach house Star House, and Secret House, another one of our award winning works, have been selected by Images Publishing editorial group to be part of the book “Houses Now. Material Style” which has been published on September 29, 2014.
The book showcases an eclectic range of contemporary single-family luxury homes from around the world, designed by a selection of architects. Focusing on the variety and quality of materials used, Houses Now also explores the finer details of architectural styles from across the globe, from suburban masterpieces and sprawling country homes, to sleek city residences and breathtaking beach houses. These single-family luxury houses demonstrate that, when it comes to residential design, there are few limits.
Star House, between desert and beach
Nestled into the landscape, this beach house blends with the natural topography of the coastline of Kuwait and slowly reveals itself to the visitor when approached from the desert.
Upon entry, one gets glimpses of the sea while going down to the public level of the chalet. The private side of the house, located at the entry level, is concealed from the visitors by a bamboo wall. Bedrooms and private living spaces remain isolated from daily activities. A three way stair, located in the centre of building, organizes the different flows; family, friends and guests.
The organizational and formal structure of the beach house is dictated by the need for maximising views to the sea . On the lower level, the house extends into the landscape and the sea, accentuated by an infinity pool located in the garden
Secret House, an intimate garden home
Secret House enhances the intimacy and the idea of internal transparency. This single-family luxury home is closed to the outside and is very visible and communicated to the garden, giving the pool a major role. AGi architects devised, therefore, a house that looked inwards and that only by achieving the highest levels, it turned as a viewpoint to the “skyline” of the city. The challenge of AGi architects has been to devise a garden-home, intimate and introspective, focusing on life inside the outside.
Readers could discover these two AGi’s projects through a selection of images, floor plans and key information about them.
Images Publishing specializes in highly illustrated books on architecture and interior design, and in recent years has made successful inroads into other areas, including fashion, photography, landscape architecture, architectural illustration, graphic design, and motoring.
