Nova House is a unique villa that orients itself between two opposing landscapes through a markedly horizontal architecture.
The design of Nova House embraces the strong personality of the plot. It is located on an elongated site in Kuwait, with one side facing the sea and the other side facing the desert. The design integrates the uniqueness of the landscape through an emphatic architectural approach.
This is an architecture that connects the two landscapes.
Towards the sea, the living areas orient themselves. Towards the opposite side, the desert, there are two large diwaniyas, which, with their terraces, look to the undulating territory. In the central part of the plot, the landscaping stimulates a sense of transition through the articulation of a garden, an oasis.
This connection between the sea and the desert is allowed by Nova House design as a large, habitable mille-feuille. Thanks to a very complex structural system, wide, slender concrete slabs are stacked on several levels. They span up to 14 meters between supports. Therefore, a space without pillars predominates.
Nova House is designed to live amidst an intense and pleasurable encounter with natural light and views.
The marked horizontality of the architecture generates panoramic views. The overhangs create an atmosphere that remains pleasantly in semi-darkness. At the points of contact with the coast, the shaded living space gives way to an area open to the sky. This is where the bedrooms and living rooms are located, just by the swimming pool and the terraces.
Nova House brings together several homes in a single complex. Maximum privacy is guaranteed in the project. A complex access is designed to allow privacy for all users and living units. The houses are spacious but consist of a reduced number of large rooms. Several diwaniyas, a cinema, a gym, a music studio or a boat room separately complete a very luxurious programme.
Facing the sea and the desert, Nova House unfolds in a stack of thin slabs of post-tensioned concrete. In this manner, it orients the gaze horizontally. Consequently, its architecture manages views and light and shadow creating a series of environments exquisitely dedicated to pause.
