Our design firm, AGi architects, was invited to participate in the opening of the academic year of the Colleges of Architecture at CEU San Pablo and Nebrija universities, in Madrid, where we delivered two lectures as part of the tenth anniversary of our firm.
Joaquín Pérez-Goicoechea, Principal and founder partner at AGi architects, along with Justo Ruiz, Design Partner of our design firm, participated in the “Old & New Connection” event developed at the Advanced Polytechnic School of Architecture at CEU San Pablo University. In addition Joaquín, this time alone, gave the inaugural lecture “Architectural systems” at the College of Architecture of Nebrija University.
Based on our experience as an international architectural office, and taking as examples some projects developed in recent years, AGi architects had the opportunity to share with attendees the ways in which we design taking our internationalization into account. So, we discussed about the different climatic, programmatic, social, cultural or political factors involved in architecture projects developed in places as diverse as Kuwait and Spain.
Our research project for the Kuwait Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2016, Waste Farming, various single-family homes as Three Gardens or Mop House and collective housing such as Tamdeen Residential Complex in Kuwait, the competition’s proposal for “El Capricho” Palace in Madrid, which won the third prize, or the rehabilitation of the Furelos medieval bridge in Galicia, Spain, first prize in competition, as well as several health projects or “La Ascension del Señor” Church, in Seville, Spain, they all have exemplified our work in order to research, design –with BIM and 3D printing- tender and perform the work, topics shared with attendees at CEU University event.
Similarly, our collective housing building Wafra Living, Ali Mohammed T. Al-Ghanim Clinic and Hisham A. Alsager Cardiac Center, our proposal for the new Qatar Courthouse -second prize at competition- and “La Ascension del Señor” Church, project nominated to the Mies van der Rohe 2015 Architecture Prize, served as driver of our conference at Nebrija University, where we were able to bring the audience the way we plan and our conceptual design in every one of these projects.
